Doorbell Camera G400 (Wired)

I have bought this as a replacement for my Aqara Dorbell G4. I have been using the Doorbell G400 for a few weeks now and it has been great so far.

The device is very responsive and quite fast. It integrated automatically into my apple ecosystem and i can view the image on my apple tv. It connected as well to my echo devices.

It was also very easy to connect it to my NAS and set it to save all the recordings there. That is a very nice feature as i didn’t want to pay a subscription to store videos on the cloud.

The doorbell by itself has a lot of AI features and functionalities but a lot of them are locked behind a subscription so i couldn’t try those.

So far everything works as expected without any issues or any lag. I am very happy with the purchase.

✅ Einrichtung & Verarbeitung
Die Installation war dank PoE-Anschluss angenehm unkompliziert, kein Gefummel mit Akkus oder häufigem Laden. Die Verarbeitung macht einen hochwertigen, stabilen Eindruck und auch das mitgelieferte Chime-Modul fügt sich gut ins System ein.

📷 Bildqualität & Sichtfeld
Die 2K-HD-Auflösung liefert ein gestochen scharfes Bild, sowohl tagsüber als auch bei Nacht. Besonders praktisch ist die Panoramaansicht, da man automatisch mehr vom Eingangsbereich im Blick hat – kein „blinder Fleck“ direkt vor der Tür. 👍

Das Zwei-Wege-Audio funktioniert zuverlässig und mit klarer Sprachqualität. Paketboten oder Besucher lassen sich problemlos ansprechen, selbst wenn man unterwegs ist.

Auch die lokale KI-Erkennung (Personen etc.) funktioniert solide und reduziert Fehlalarme deutlich. Die Möglichkeit zur 24/7-Aufzeichnung gibt zusätzlich ein gutes Sicherheitsgefühl.

Sowohl 2,4 als auch 5 GHz WLAN werden unterstützt, was in meinem Setup für stabile Verbindungen sorgt. Alternativ läuft’s über PoE sowieso konstant zuverlässig.

Dank IP65-Zertifizierung trotzt die Kamera Regen und Wind ohne Probleme – bisher keinerlei Aussetzer oder Einschränkungen.

Die Aqara G400 ist eine sehr durchdachte und zuverlässige Video-Türklingel, besonders für Smart-Home-Fans und Apple-User. Starke Bildqualität, gute Integration und viele Features machen sie zu einer klaren Empfehlung. 💯

Die Aqara Türklingel ist wirklich gut. Die Bildqualität in 2K ist klar und die Panoramaansicht sorgt dafür, dass man den Eingangsbereich vollständig im Blick hat. Gerade für Haustür und Einfahrt ideal.
Ein großer Pluspunkt ist die Integration in Apple HomeKit Secure Video, wodurch Aufnahmen sicher und komfortabel verwaltet werden können.
Die lokale Erkennung arbeitet zuverlässig, und die 24/7-Aufzeichnung gibt zusätzliche Sicherheit. Besonders praktisch und für mich das Haupt-Kaufargument ist die Möglichkeit, die Kamera kabelgebunden oder per PoE zu betreiben – stabil und ohne ständige Akkuprobleme. PoE ist dabei der sauberste Weg ohne Abbrüche!
Auch das Zwei-Wege-Audio funktioniert sauber, und dank IP65 ist die Klingel problemlos für den Außeneinsatz geeignet.
Fazit: Hochwertige, zuverlässige Video-Türklingel mit starker Smart-Home-Integration und vielen Funktionen – klare 5 Sterne.

This doorbell replaced an old Logitech Circle View I installed a while back. The Logitech was cutting out every now and again. Also, the 4 x 3 view cut people's heads off and I couldn't see any parcels. I'm heavily into the Apple world and the Logitech didn't support iCloud secure video. So, I wanted to replace the Logitech.

After reviewing options, the G400 seemed the most straight forward to install. It is powered from the original doorbell unit - basically the same wiring as the Logitech. Switching the G400 in place was very easy. Setup in the Aqara app was straight forward and a tap will add the doorbell to HomeKit.

The G400 recognizes household members and friends more accurately. The video is a lot clearer.

The G400 will not right the original doorbell. Aqara include a USB C powered remote doorbell. The way HomeKit works rings the door bell on HomePods, so we don't miss callers. HomeKit notifies us of people being at the front door.. We can talk to the visitor too. Basically, it all works nicely together.

For $99 I think the G400 is fantastic value for money.

I have gone through my sheriff doorbells… This I believe is my fourth my last two Martha Arlo, which you needed a subscription for it to be useful. Or the WeMo, which went off-line every other day. So far, I think this might be the most affordable as well as the best quality image and best functionality. I would say the only negative thing is even though you can hardwire the doorbell you can’t hook it up to your Homes built-in chime. The chime that comes with it is fine and you can also hook it up to Apple HomePods if you own those.

Die Installation war vorausgesetzt, man hat eine feste Verkabelung oder PoE unkompliziert und schnell erledigt. Besonders hervorzuheben ist hier die stabile Verbindung.
Gerade über PoE läuft alles extrem schnell und zuverlässig, ohne Verzögerungen beim Livebild oder bei Benachrichtigungen.

Die Bildqualität ist mit 2K-Auflösung wirklich scharf und detailreich.
Das 3:4-Format ist dabei ein echter Vorteil, da man den Bereich vor der Tür vollständig im Blick hat inklusive Paketen am Boden.
Genau das hat mir bei vielen anderen Türklingeln immer gefehlt.

Auch bei der Ausstattung lässt die G400 kaum Wünsche offen.
Zwei-Wege-Audio funktioniert klar und ohne merkliche Verzögerung, Bewegungs- und Personenerkennung arbeiten zuverlässig und Benachrichtigungen kommen schnell an.
Besonders gut gefällt mir, dass man zwischen Cloud und lokaler Speicherung wählen kann inklusive microSD oder NAS. Das gibt einem ein gutes Gefühl in Sachen Datenschutz und Flexibilität.

Die Integration in verschiedene Smart-Home-Systeme wie Apple HomeKit, Google oder Alexa funktioniert ebenfalls einwandfrei.
Gerade für Apple-Nutzer ist HomeKit Secure Video ein großer Pluspunkt.

Auch die Verarbeitung macht einen hochwertigen Eindruck.
Das Gehäuse ist robust und dank IP65 problemlos für den Außeneinsatz geeignet.
Selbst bei schlechtem Wetter.

Ein kleiner Punkt, den man beachten sollte.
Die Klingel ist nicht für den Akkubetrieb gedacht.
Wer also keine feste Verkabelung hat, muss auf ein anderes Modell ausweichen.

Fazit:
Die Aqara G400 ist eine sehr zuverlässige, hochwertige und durchdachte Video-Türklingel mit starker Bildqualität, stabiler Verbindung und vielen smarten Funktionen.
Besonders in Kombination mit PoE spielt sie ihre Stärken voll aus.
Für alle, die eine fest installierte Lösung suchen, eine klare Empfehlung!

Staying in the same ecosystem with my Aqara door locks, I got the Aqara doorbell to replace my Google Nest doorbell. Google Nest requires you to pay extra for recording and AI. This has everything I need and can run locally on my network with HomeAssistant. I already have the Aqara app for my door locks, so I did not need to worry about adding another app. But I also like that it integrates with HomeKit, so my Apple devices, like my AppleTV and iPhone, can interact with it. 2K is plenty of quality. It has a doorbell you can put anywhere in your house. It can be wired with your existing doorbell wiring or a POE network cable. But it is NOT battery-operated, so you will need a cable. Video quality looks good in the app. It gives you two different mounting plates to install it, one of which is angled. You can use the app to set everything up and review the doorbell footage. You can put the doorbell chime anywhere in your house and set the volume.

This doorbell camera is refreshingly simple to install, especially if you already have existing low-voltage wiring. It supports standard 6–24V doorbell wiring, so in most cases it’s just a matter of connecting the two wires and mounting it in place, done fairly quick and generally the same area would work just fine for position. One thing to note is that depending on your setup, you may need to disconnect, or bypass, the existing in home chime. I experienced a humming when leaving mine connected and given the device has his own chime device it not worth wasting energy on the old one. Beyond that, installation flexibility is excellent, with the added option of Power over Ethernet (PoE) for a more direct and stable setup if you have the infrastructure. With PoE, you do not need wireless either which may be a plus in today’s crowded airwaves. But even so pairing is equally smooth, and if you’re already using the Aqara app, linking to platforms like Google Home is easy and, in my case, it happened automatically given I already had the app linked for other product. This makis integration into an existing smart home very straightforward.

On the functionality side, the app gives you a lot of control without overcomplicating things. You can customize notification types, motion zones, and detection sensitivity for instanced. This ensures you can set it up for only the alerts that matter. Both the indoor chime and doorbell offer adjustable ringtones and volume, which is a nice touch for tailoring the experience inside and outside the home. The two-way audio is clear and responsive, making it easy to communicate with visitors or delivery drivers. Then if desired you can leverage AI-based detection, night vision, and local recording on device microSD or NAS. On the microSD, if you have big fingers, it may be a bit challenging to insert and that is my only negative on this device. Make sure to use the correct provided seal to prevent bugs getting where they should not. Overall, it’s a well-balanced doorbell camera that combines easy installation, flexible power options, and strong smart features into a very practical everyday solution.

Très bonne sonnette qui permet de voir un visiteur de la tête aux pieds grâce à son format d'image vertical (portrait). Attention toutefois, pour fonctionner, elle doit être directement raccordée au secteur ou via un câble Ethernet auto-alimenté (PoE). Si vous n'avez pas d'arrivée électrique à l'emplacement souhaité, il faudra plutôt vous orienter vers le modèle G4, qui est la seule à fonctionner sur piles.
Niveau qualité d'image, rien à redire la définition 2K est excellente. Les alertes sont réactives, parfois même un peu trop un élément naturel qui bouge au vent ou le passage d'une voiture peut déclencher une notification. Il est donc essentiel de bien définir ses zones de détection pour éviter les déclenchements intempestifs.
Côté domotique, je l'ai intégrée à HomeKit et l'expérience est parfaite. Je peux consulter les événements depuis l'app Maison sur iPhone ou voir en direct qui sonne à la porte directement sur mon Apple TV. Je recommande cette sonnette pour sa qualité de fabrication et sa grande simplicité d'utilisation.

Die Lieferung erfolgt im Anschluss an die Bestellung sowohl zügig als auch gut verpackt in einem nett bedruckten Karton.

Im Inneren befindet sich alles, was man für die Montage benötigt. Entsprechende Anleitungen liegen in deutscher Sprache bei. Es empfiehlt sich diese auch sorgsam zu lesen, um sich im Anschluss Ärger zu ersparen, obgleich die Installation nicht unnötig kompliziert ist. Gleiches gilt für die Bedienung, die gut von der Hand geht, ohne dass man dafür funktional irgendwelche Einschränkungen machen müsste.

Fazit: Von "AQARA" gibt es hier eine optimale Video-Türklingel, die im Einsatz bisher keinerlei Schwächen gezeigt hat. Da auch der Preis der Leistung angemessen erscheint, kann eine Kaufempfehlung einschließlich der Höchstwertung mit einem guten Gewissen ausgesprochen werden. Sollte sich an diesem Eindruck während der weiteren Verwendung noch etwas ändern, so wird es hier nachgetragen.

Muy buen producto. La integración con HomeKit es excelente y funciona de forma muy fluida. La respuesta es prácticamente inmediata, tanto al recibir notificaciones como al acceder al vídeo en directo desde la app Casa.

Una de las funciones que más me ha gustado es la llamada al móvil cuando alguien toca el timbre, ya que puedes ver el vídeo en tiempo real y responder al instante, como si fuera una videollamada.

El uso de PoE es un gran punto a favor, ya que simplifica la instalación y hace el sistema mucho más estable que depender solo de WiFi. La calidad de imagen es muy buena y el formato 3:4 es ideal porque permite ver a la persona completa.

En general, muy recomendable si buscas un timbre inteligente rápido, fiable y perfectamente integrado con HomeKit.

The doorbell camera works extremely well. The 2K video quality is clear, and the head-to-toe view makes it easy to see packages. There is 24/7 recording to the SD card and NAS. Third-party integration works extremely well and fast compared to anything else I’ve used. The dual Wi-Fi helps give fast and stable connection. One thing to note, the 24/7 only works if you have an SD card installed even if you want to store the footage on the NAS. Also, when integrating with third party services, it seems to draw a lot more power requiring that I upgrade my doorbell transformer even though the old one worked with other ones just fine for years. If no third party integration is used, power draw is lower and does not cause power issues like reboots.
